While out of context this might sound like just another DGAF anthem, the lyrical references to substance abuse (1,2,3 1,2,3 drink/ Throw em back till I lose count) and the utter emptiness felt at the end make Chandelier one of the most intriguing radio-friendly ballads weve heard in a long time.

Im gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier/ Im gonna live like tomorrow doesnt exist, like it doesnt exist, theBattle Crysongstress defiantly belts out on the chorus.

Like, is this the underlying meaning of all those f*** the consequences/lets get drunk tracks we love? What does it say about us that we connect to em so easily? Sorry if were getting a littleMariah Careyright now (TooDeep), but Sias new song has left us with a lot of feelings we need to sort out.

WithChandelier, which comes to us from the Australian singer-songwriters sixth studio album (out this summer), Sia serves party-girl darkness, toeing the line between celebration and self-destruction as it becomes increasingly more blurred.

After lending her songwriting abilities to some of the most poignant pop songs in recent memory (), its amazing to know thatSiasstill got some of that power-ballad gold left over for herself.
